I turned off my phone to try this feature, and the service could not contact the phone. Therefore, I was unable to use the play sound option or secure its data. <strong>This means that if your phone is stolen and turned off, Google Find My Device is no longer an effective tool for locating it<\/strong> unless you have a supported device for off searches, such as Google Pixel 8 or Pixel 8 Pro.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After Google launched the Find My Device Network in April 2024, it announced that you can find your Android device even when it\u2019s offline. Google can now leverage the crowd by using Bluetooth signals from nearby devices to find your device. This means you can still find a supported Android device if it\u2019s offline.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Still, finding an offline Android device works well only in public places, since Google aggregates data from multiple Android devices. Google does not apply the finding offline when only a few Android devices are nearby to prevent tracking in a private location. Hence, your phone must be connected to the internet for this service to work.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Your phone&#8217;s Date and Time are incorrect.<\/strong><br>If your phone&#8217;s date and time are incorrect, Google Find My Device will encounter errors. Always have your phone&#8217;s date and time set correctly.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Store recent location is turned off.<\/strong><br>When your phone goes offline, it&#8217;s possible to see the last known location if \u201cStore recent location\u201d is turned on. Check if \u201cstore recent location\u201d is turned on to allow Google to encrypt and store your phone&#8217;s location, allowing Find My Device to work even when the phone is turned off.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>The battery is low.<\/strong><br>Most apps depend on a certain level of battery life to work. Below a specific percentage, and apps won&#8217;t work, including Google Find My Device on most Android devices except the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro.
