I installed OverWatch on my child’s Samsung A33 with an Android 13 operating system. Because OverWatch is a phone monitoring app, it is categorized under spy apps by the Google Play Store.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As such, you cannot download it through the regular means. I had to scan a QR code on the OverWatch website, disable Play Protect on the Google Play Store, and enable downloading unknown apps from the Chrome browser.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The app downloaded successfully in a few seconds. I allowed keylogger permission and restricted access to the app in my settings. This step is essential, but the instructions skip a crucial step.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once the “Allow Keylogger Tracking”<\/strong> step pops up, you will see instructions to go to your phone’s settings > Apps > Three dots > Allow restricted access.<\/strong> This step does not allow the app to configure automatically. You must go to Settings > Accessibility > Installed Apps ><\/strong> and Turn On Play Services<\/strong>. OverWatch automatically allowed various settings, which saved time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Based on my experience, installing OverWatch is not a straightforward process, and someone who has never installed an app may encounter difficulties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After installing and configuring the app, I logged into my online dashboard and was surprised to find a clean user interface. All the monitored features are on the left, and the tracked information is on the right. You can navigate to any feature and find information in seconds.<\/p>\n\n\n

OverWatch displayed the list of calls on the call log. It showed me the phone number and the state of the call (incoming or outgoing and whether it was accepted or declined). It also displayed the duration and the date of the call. I like that I could block the contact directly from the online control panel, meaning I could prevent potentially dangerous individuals from contacting my child.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SMS syncing took longer than expected. Hence, I could not see any text messages my child received or sent from the phone.<\/p>\n\n\n

Overwatch can track a phone’s location<\/a>. I found that it does not sync location data every few minutes, so you may be unable to follow your child’s live location.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The app showed me the phone’s GPS location on a map. I could zoom in or out to see a precise place on the map. It also showed the accuracy, date tracked, and the option to view the location on Google Maps<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After experimenting with OverWatch, I found checking in on your child’s helpful whereabouts rather than tracking their real-time movements. OverWatch Instagram monitoring displayed screenshots of the app’s activities. It laid out the images and reels according to when they were viewed. This feature made it easy to know who my child was talking to, the kind of content they view, and the people they follow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the best features of OverWatch is internet tracking. I used this parental control app to view my son’s browser history, emails, and bookmarks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

OverWatch allowed me to block inappropriate websites from the list of visited websites. Therefore, it proves helpful when you want to avoid online dangers such as pornography, sexual exploitation, and cyberbullying from various websites.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Overwatch had only seven keystroke records using the keylogger feature. Based on my experience, this feature did not meet my expectations, since I did not see most of the text typed on the phone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Besides, it’s supposed to help you see passwords by seeing the information typed into various services. Hence, I did not find the Android keylogger reliable for this task.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Is OverWatch Monitoring App Detectable?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

OverWatch operates in stealth mode on the target device and allows tracking phone without permission<\/a>. It even changes the name to Play Services so that a child would not point it out from the list of installed apps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, it shows a screencast on the phone. A curious or tech-savvy child may be able to find it and consequently uninstall or disable it from the monitored device.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
