Service/App Review Writing Methodology

HeyLocate creates reviews of services/apps for phone tracking and monitoring, phone number tracking, parental control, image lookup, and people search services (the list is not exhaustive and may be expanded with related topics). Each material dedicated to reviewing one product is created based on our personal experience and testing of this service/app.

How we test and evaluate:

Quick Review – we try gathering basic data available about the service/app and main conclusions: year of foundation, online rating, compatibility, date of last update, price, trials/coupons availability, refund policy, and our verdict.
Service/app description – we provide information about the founders/creators of the service/app, country of origin, year of foundation, how the company represents itself on social media, and what it offers, if this information is available.
Safety – we check the service/app for legitimacy and safety using authoritative sites like Scamadviser, Trustpilot, and other online website verification tools.
Purchase & Subscription – we may purchase the service/app for testing, or use access provided to us by partners. Partners cannot influence the service/app’s operation specifically for us, so even in the case of partner access, our testing remains unbiased and the same as it would be for any user. We describe all methods by which one can subscribe and/or make a purchase on the service/app website, prices of different subscription options at the moment of our review, available trial options or discount coupons. Users should always check the current prices on the service’s website before making a purchase.
Installation Process (for apps and programs) – we download the app on our own devices. When there are significant differences in operation on different operating systems, we also test apps separately on Android and iPhone. When testing parental control apps, a child’s device is not necessarily used: if a certain tester doesn’t have children, their own device or a work device with the required OS is used. We test the ease and speed of download, paying attention to how the smartphone works with the app already installed.
Feature Effectiveness – we test each feature of the service/app: how quickly it works, how effective the result is, and whether there are differences for different operating systems.
Customer Service – we describe how one can contact the support service and how quickly they respond. Usually, while testing the service/app, we clarify details with the support service and show how they helped us (or didn’t).
Users’ Reviews – we analyze reviews from other users online, usually from services like Trustpilot, Scamadviser, Sitejabber, Reddit, Quora, Google Play Store, Apple App Store, and online forums.
Service/apps alternatives & comparison – by regularly reviewing services/apps in our field, we have become experts and can compare different services/apps. For our readers’ convenience, we provide comparison tables with a list of competitor services/apps and their features. We separately highlight recommendations for specific alternatives.
Pros and Cons – After a thorough review of the service/app, we identify the main advantages and disadvantages. This helps readers evaluate everything and make an informed decision.
Verdict – considering the service/app review, testing, comparison with competitors, all pros and cons, and our experience, we make our expert conclusion regarding the use of this service/app.
