Once I installed mSpy and uMobix on the target phones, I was taken to their online dashboards. I could see all the features that the apps would be monitoring. I liked the navigation on mSpy since it has divided the tracking into sections like remote control, messaging surveillance, and location tracking.

uMobix bundles features into general functions like Unread, General, and Social. This made it a bit harder to find a particular function since I could not immediately tell whether to look for it in General or in the Unread sections.

Location Tracking

Knowing the precise location of a monitored phone is super important. Both mSpy and uMobix can track GPS locations.

On the mSpy dashboard, you will see the list or map views of the tracked location. This app displays the longitude, latitude, and the address name. It will also tell the accuracy level and the date and time the location was tracked.

In my mSpy review, the app updated the location every ten minutes. However, I noticed instances when it could stop syncing the phone’s location to the online dashboard, even when the monitored device’s location and Wi-Fi services were turned on.

mSpy has advanced features for location tracking, such as the Geofence feature for setting safe and restricted zones. You can create virtual fences, and mSpy will notify you through email when your child enters or leaves a specific zone.

mSpy can also track a target device based on its Wi-Fi connection. You can see the phone’s position relative to the Wi-Fi it has connected to.

uMobix location tracking showed both the list and map view GPS locations. It also displayed the longitude, latitude, and accuracy level. uMobix did not show the address of the tracked location, but it updated the location every ten minutes with delays of only 20 minutes (not great, but less than mSpy).

Based on my uMobix review, this app is better for live location tracking, especially for a missing phone. On the other hand, mSpy is better for day-to-day monitoring of a child’s or employee’s whereabouts and geofencing.

Call & SMS Monitoring

Cell phone monitoring on mSpy and uMobix includes calls and SMS. mSpy lists the call log of the target cell phone. You can click on a contact to see the call duration, date and time, and whether it was an incoming or outgoing call.

uMobix does the same but also lets you block a contact directly from the call list, while mSpy does not have the option to block a caller.

For SMS monitoring, mSpy displays the text messages with the last message displayed. Still, mSpy had a problem with syncing data fast compared to uMobix. This meant that it could potentially miss deleted messages. Thus, you can use uMobix as a mSpy alternative for real-time tracking messages.

On uMobix, I could see the full list of messages. When I opened a chat, it showed me the content of the messages with the correct time and date. Still, the status of whether a message was incoming or outgoing was inaccurate.

Social Media Monitoring

mSpy focuses on messaging surveillance on social media apps, while uMobix monitors the activities on these apps. At the time of my review, mSpy was tracking 14 social media apps, while uMobix — 18.

It also monitors the most popular platforms, including Facebook, Telegram, and TikTok. I found uMobix incredibly useful for getting valuable insights about a child’s online activity.

mSpy features browser and bookmark history. It shows you the searched words, the URL of the visited website, and the date when the child browsed the internet.
